Brief Description
The Application Engineer is responsible for performing specific engineering design and analytical tasks directed toward the proper selection, application, design, and cost development for the preparation of proposals involving assigned coupling lines. Helps customers and sales associates troubleshoot and solve technical issues with their couplings and applications. Plays a strategic role in developing and launching new products and driving growth in targeted vertical markets.
This position will be located in New Berlin, WI reporting to the Marketing Manager.

Qualifications

Key Accountabilities
  • Provide customer with assistance for coupling selection for unique, special, or technical applications.
  • Review customer specifications, and determine Rexnord’s ability to meet the requirements.
  • Prepare formal proposals covering the correct application for assigned products for inquiries requiring standard, modified, or special couplings to meet customer specifications and/or requirements.
  • Work under guidance of the product manager in cooperation with the sales force to develop winning proposals and sales negotiations.
  • Provide customers with technical support and product training at their plant locations.
  • Take active role in market research, promotion, advertising activities, trade shows, employee training, and product modification and development.
  • Interact with manufacturing engineering to develop cost estimates.
  • Interface with Rexnord Coupling global Engineering teams.
  • Make continuous improvements to automate and simplify the inquiry and selection process, to improve the customer’s experience, minimize response time, and improve our quality and capability.
  • Thorough knowledge of coupling products, their application, customer requirements, and general mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to read basic drawings of couplings and coupling layouts.
  • Broad acquaintance with present and potential customers, and the ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships with these customers at all times.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing and sales.
  • Self motivated with the ability to interface well with customers.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent knowledge of engineering and experience
  • Either 5+ years of Coupling market experience or 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Current knowledge and expertise in the Coupling market
  • Ability to regularly travel domestically and internationally at least 25%
