Ten of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia.
Position Objective
We are seeking an experienced Gold Room Operator to join the Lawlers Processing department. The successful candidate will report to the Production Foreman. The Gold Room Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the key Gold Room activities of managing the stripping and electrowinning circuits as well as smelting gold product.
Gold Room Operators shall be required to perform the following duties:
· Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant policies and procedures.
· Through the use of procedures to get the job done, ensure that improvements to the procedures are captured and changes are communicated to the Plant Foreman.
· Operate the stripping circuit as instructed by the Plant Foreman to ensure a continual gold recovery operation
· Ensure effective communication of work and issues/conditions status takes place with delegate prior to departure from site
· Carry out workplace inspections and monitor employee and contractors in their tasks
· Maintain security of the Gold Room precinct, in accordance with the Gold Security Standard and Gold Room Security Procedures Manual
· Any other adhoc duties
To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:
· Demonstrated competence in operating a gold recovery facility, preferably using AARL elution
· Knowledge of security protocols surrounding the operation of a Gold Room
· Demonstrated application of safe working procedures and inspection techniques.
· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
· Able to work as part of a team and foster team building
· Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence essential
· Current Police Clearance and ability to pass a Gold Squad Police Clearance
· St Johns Senior First Aid certificate desirable
