BHP Billiton Iron Ore is one of the world's leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company's operations currently involve an integrated system of seven mines, more than 1,600 kilometres of rail and two separate world class port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland.
Position
Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Survey you will be working in a small team on site. Your time will be spent both in the field working on state of the art equipment and systems, as well as some time in an office environment compiling reports.
As a Mining Surveyor your duties include but are not limited to:
· Performing daily surveys to support mining operations;
· Exploration holes set out and survey;
· Daily working face position and waste dump surveys;
· Set out of dig limits for bench development;
· Set out of grade control for ramp and haul road development;
· Laser scanning of pits, stockpiles and other features around site as required;
· End of month topographic surveys for plan preparation;
· Preparation of mine plans and volume calculations;
· Establishment of temporary bench marks;
· Surveying and calculation of coordinates for pit pillars by terrestrial and GPS technologies;
· Calibration of total stations and digital levels;
· Compliance with company and industry safety standards;
· Operate and maintain prism monitoring system;
· Providing specialist technical advice to other site technical staff and departments; and
· Maintenance of site survey infrastructure and control networks.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this role, you will require formal qualifications in mine surveying with Grade 1 or 2 authorisation preferred. Previous experience in an open cut mine is required, preferably using & maintaining Trimble GPS systems. You will be team focused and possess excellent communication skills. A positive attitude towards safety 'at all times' is essential. Vulcan software experience will be highly regarded for this role.
For this role you will need to possess an unrestricted Western Australian C Grade Licence.
Location
The role is based at our operations in WA's Pilbara region and is offered on a Fly In Fly out basis from Perth on a 8/6. A competitive remuneration package is offered commensurate with experience, and includes performance incentive and a generous superannuation scheme, as well as other benefits
