    What the role entails

    • Replacing rail, sections of track, ballast profile and defective sleepers.
    • Maintaining rail switches, ballast profile, top and line.
    • Assisting the Rail Workshop Maintenance team in maintaining rail rolling stock.
    • Carrying out rail track maintenance.
    What you will need for this role

    To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have;
    • A current “C” class driver’s license.
    • Experience within a non-mechanised track maintenance team.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Current Medium Rigid (MR) truck license with the ability to work in a hot outdoor environment.
    • Dogman ticket and Vehicle Loading Crane mounted crane (Hiab) ticket.
    • Experience in Thermal Welding processes along with Tie crane operation and Gemco operations.

    The Operations Support Engineer (OSE) provides process engineering support to the 24x7 Production organization to ensure excellence in Process Safety, Reliability, Margin/Energy Optimization, and Cost Management. The OSE works closely with the Production Team to provide technical assurance to unit operations and ensure production plan delivery. In addition, the OSE plays a key role in Continuous Improvement, Project Development and Turnaround Planning and Execution.

    • Perform proactive technical monitoring to understand process unit performance, troubleshoot operating issues, and identify opportunities for improvement. This key OSE activity is a feeder for multiple work processes
    • Provide technical assurance to ensure the process units operate within established limits

    • Lead and participate in MOCs to ensure robust Process Safety Management for changes to be implemented
    • Participate in Process Hazard Analyses to identify and assess Process Safety threats and develop recommendations to mitigate these threats
    • Perform safeguarding evaluations to ensure proper protection against equipment overpressure and failure scenarios
    • Identify opportunities for Margin and Energy improvements and drive changes to capture these opportunities
    • Ensure optimization of catalyst and chemicals usage
    • Provide process engineering support to Turnaround Planning and Execution to ensure Reliability and Turnaround objectives are met
    • Provide support to capital projects to ensure proper implementation and performance when integrated into existing operating units and systems

    • Mentoring of Process Engineers in the area, and have a good understanding of the critical nature of this activity toward insuring the success of the Process Engineers.
    • Helping provide a site wide approach to unit optimization, problem solving, and provision of resources
    • Serve as a link to other sites, and Best Practices
    • Assistance as required on a 24X7 basis in response to unit upsets, outages, unplanned downtime, or other Process Engineering needs and serve as a communication link to the Process Engineering Manager
    • Insuring that back-up coverage for Process Engineers in their respective area is provided on a 24X7 basis
