Job Description



The Director of Financial Risk Management is primarily responsible for: interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk, and the share buyback program.  This position will work closely with senior management on setting the strategic objectives for the Financial Risk Management department to mitigate Aon’s changing global risk profile.  A high degree of knowledge and experience is required in the following disciplines: derivatives pricing, foreign exchange markets, accounting, and tax.  The Director, Financial Risk Management reports to the VP, Finance and Capital Markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Interest Rate and Foreign Exchange Risk Management   – Responsible for the measurement, quantification, and hedging of global interest rate and foreign exchange exposures.  Document and communicate underlying risks, hedge strategies and scenario analysis to senior finance managers.  Supervise the formulation and modeling of hedging strategies, including technique and instrument selection.  Maintain and change interest rate and foreign exchange risk management policies and procedures as necessary.  Oversee the clearing, netting, settlement and performance tracking of derivatives activity.  Liaison with corporate accounting department to: facilitate interest rate and foreign exchange forecasting, external reporting of interest rate and foreign exchange risk, and accounting for derivative positions.
Treasury Workstation Implementation  -  Work closely with operations team on implementing foreign exchange components of new Treasury workstation.
Derivative Counterparty Management – Responsible for: monitoring counterparty exposures as a result of derivative positions to ensure MTM exposures do not exceed prescribed limits as established byIreland.  Develop/Maintain positive relationships with trading counterparties by regularly communicating with approved counterparties about hedging programs and trading requirements.   
Derivatives execution and Reporting - Responsible for supervising the execution, reporting, and back office activities of derivative transactions.
Share Buyback Program – Responsible for the execution and overall reporting of Aon’s share buyback program.  Participate and lead communications with share repurchase brokers, setting-up new brokers and describing special requirements.
General Support  -  Negotiate contracts such as derivative netting agreements (ISDA’s) and assist with quantitative analysis in MATLAB.
QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor’s degree required with a strong preference for a B.S. or B.A in Accounting or Finance.
•Experience using MATLAB and supporting Statistics, Financial, Optimizations, and GARCH Tool boxes.
•Advanced Microsoft Excel Proficiency; Intermediate experience with VBA and ODBC/SQL query architecture
•Strong analytical skills; familiarity with industry standard pricing models and VaR concepts.
•MBA in Finance or a C.F.A. strongly preferred
•Proven communication and leadership skills
•Familiarity with accounting (focus on FAS 133, 157, 161) and tax disciplines.
•Derivative execution and/or back office experience
•Experience in the purchase and sale of foreign exchange and interest rate securities
