Mining Metallurgical Process Engineer

Mining Metallurgical Process Engineer

Tucson, AZ-based mining consulting company is seeking engineers with experience in metallurgical process plant operations to develop plant start-up documentation and computer-based training documentation for process plant operations and mobile equipment. This documentation is used by our trainers to assist clients worldwide with plant start-up. The training ensures that new operators and supervisors are trained how to safely and efficiently operate all areas of a metallurgical processing plant and mobile equipment used in mining operations. The plant training material describes process flows through the plant, how to control the process, how the equipment is interlocked, how to handle equipment alarms, safety information, and more. Mobile equipment documentation describes how to safely and efficiently operate large mobile machinery such as haul trucks, drills, front-end loaders, etc. We also assist clients by conducting studies to determine the training needs of a new or existing operation based on the plant requirements and the skills of the available labor pool.
This position is based in our Tucson office, but may require occasional travel to clients’ mine sites, including international travel.
Please note that this position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. A background in metallurgical plant operations is essential, but the position does not involve actual engineering design. The engineer refers to client-supplied equipment vendor documentation, flowsheets, piping & instrument diagrams, and plant functional descriptions to produce documentation specific to a client’s metallurgical plant. A second engineer reviews the material for technical accuracy, and editing staff edit the manual for grammar and style consistency before it is sent to the client for their review and comments.

Requirements:

For this position, we are looking for candidates with a B.S. in engineering or related scientific discipline. We prefer three to five years experience working in an actual mine or metallurgical processing plant, and require excellent written communication skills. Salary is commensurate with experience.
