Do you want to change the way the world watches video? The Yahoo! Video team is re-defining the next-generation video consumption experience on the desktop, tablets and smartphones. We conceptualize, create and iterate on engaging and exciting ways for hundreds of millions of users to consume video across Yahoo!. Our development cycle is fast, and it is extremely satisfying to write code and see it have live impact in production in a matter of days.
Role
We're looking for exceptional Front End Engineers who are passionate about technology and solving complex presentation problems. You will work closely with world-class user experience designers, product managers and engineers to design and implement engaging, reusable web modules and Video experiences, and develop tools for internal teams to edit and maintain it all with ease. You will write code and unit tests that meet Yahoo!'s high quality standards, and may also work on automated tests to drive code quality.
Requirements
* BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience required
* 8+ years of professional development experience
* Significant development experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP
* Solid understanding of the full web technology stack (eg. DNS, HTTP, caching)
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Strong sense of commitment and responsibility
* Excellent debugging and testing skills
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
* Fast learner - can quickly come up to speed with different technologies
* Practical UNIX development experience
* Practical experience with Version Control Systems such as Subversion and Git
Desired
* Strong understanding of mechanics behind YUI or similar JS framework
* Strong knowledge and keen interest in emerging tools and technologies in the industry
* Practical experience with Test Driven Development
* Proficiency in Unix administration and shell scripting
* Regular expressions
* Database, SQL and MySQL (LAMP stack) experience
* Experience developing and deploying highly efficient, scalable server-side applications
* Experience leading cross-functional development teams
