KEPCO Australia is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), a government owned organisation which was founded in 1887. Since the establishment of KEPCO Australia in December 2005, KEPCO Australia has been actively engaged in a range of business activities in Australia. The Bylong Mine site is KEPCO Australia’s current development and is a major coal resource located in the Mid-Western Region of NSW in Bylong.

The Senior Mining Engineer opportunity is a newly created role and will work closely with the Technical General Manager and be part of the team responsible for ensuring that the project's business plan is achieved or exceeded thereby maximising the value of the project to KEPCO.

Reporting to the Technical General Manager and contributing to the effective management of the technical planning function your duties will include but not limited to;
- Liaise with mining and drilling contractors on schedules to conform to plan
- Responsible for compilation of daily, weekly and monthly reports
- Looking after and planning, short term exploration and development programs
- Develop and run XPAC scheduling or equivalent for longwall and opencut mining
- Management of all operational aspects of the project with a view to achieving all forecasted targets
- Work with the Technical General Manager in managing a team of consultants to assess the feasibility and risks for the project
- Ensure all activities under their control are conducted in accordance with regulatory controls and the Bylong Environmental Management System

To be successful in this position you will have;
- Degree in Mining Engineering or Geology, possess experience in, and a sound working knowledge of, underground longwall mining and opencut operations
- Solid experience of mine modelling and mine planning software (XPAC or equivalent)
- Your ability to direct and influence those around you will be key to your success, effectively delivering the project on time and under budget
- Strong project management skills and a strong understanding of business success drivers.
- Supervisory experience would be advantageous
- Working experience with Korean companies preferred but not essential
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
