Processing Manager

  • Salary: Basic + Bonus + Benefits
  • Location: South East Asia
Pre-requisites:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Geology.
  • First-aid qualifications. (Preferable)
  • 5 years upper management experience in either processing or maintenance operations, at Superintendent level or above.
  • Over 10 years in mine processing operations with considerable experience in gold CIL essential.
  • Process plant start-up / commissioning experience.
  • Management of mine process operations in Southeast Asia. (Preferable)
Key Responsibilities:
  • The role of the Processing Manager is to coordinate all of the milling operations personnel to achieve the production rates of gold and silver whilst ensuring management of safety, health and environment exceeds expectations.
  • Milling operations consist of Processing, Metallurgy and Maintenance along with some smaller support teams.
  • This role will ensure an integrated approach to mill management is achieved ensuring production and maintenance requirements are matched to provide the best overall production outcome.
  • Close interaction with the mining / geology team will be required to ensure mill feed requirements are kept within required guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Mine Safety Regulations and how they apply to processing operations.
  • Ensuring the Processing Departments SHEC plans are in place and executed thus delivering above average performance in these key areas.
Safety Environment Community Relations:
  • Develop occupational health and safety plans for the Processing team with key drivers of performance identified and incorporated in performance management.
  • Ensure safe operational procedures are developed for the handling of all hazardous goods to be delivered to site.
  • Review company's environmental management standards and develop operational plans and procedures to ensure compliance against these.
  • Develop understanding of local employment expectations and deliver on these within the processing operations team.
Preproduction:
  • Develop ore commissioning plans with the EPCM contractor.
  • Complete all recruitment requirements for processing operations.
  • Develop operational and maintenance procedures pre-production.
  • Ensure equipment isolation procedures are in place prior to process plant commissioning.
  • Ensure the necessary maintenance work processes are developed within the company's ERP system and available for use at plant commissioning.
  • Review on-going equipment operational spares requirements and provide guidance to the supply and logistics team to coordinate their delivery to site for plant operations.
  • Review and update Processing and Maintenance operational budgets as new information is provided.
Post Production:
  • Review and refine the existing process operations 3 year operational cost budgets.
  • Develop forecasts for key consumables and maintenance spares.
  • Develop training and progression plans for all local area staff positions.
People Management:
  • Development of pre-production training plans to facilitate the hiring of local employees in readiness for process operations start up.
  • Develop localisation plans for all expatriate roles.
Key Challenges:
  • The mine site is a growth site and as such, will be developing processes and systems. It is important not to expect all aspects of the operating site to be perfect and as a team, continued development of these will be a necessity as will patience from all.
  • Bringing together the processing, metallurgy and maintenance teams into a coherent, focused unit will present a challenge.
  • Achieving this whilst in the pressure situation of commencing start-up operations of a significant plant will be critical to success.
  • Coordination of all of the requirements for start-up operations will be a challenge with all aspects having to be managed if the operation is to be successful.
  • This role is a potential pre-cursor to the Operations Management role and will on most occasions fill in this role when the incumbent is on leave.
