Job Description

As a Mechanical Engineer you will work closely with the Engineering and Manufacturing Teams to design and integrate new ideas into a line of digital slide scanners. You will be expected to monitor all aspects of your designs from inception to design verification/validation, production and finally to the end users. You will also be an integral part of the VAVE (Value Added Value Engineering) initiative for the cost optimization of the existing and new products. This is an exceptional opportunity for a creative person to invent new solutions in an exciting field as we expand our product capabilities.

The Mechanical Engineer I is someone who can:

• Design new optical & electro-mechanical assemblies
• Interact with machine shops and vendors throughout the design cycle for optimizing the design from manufacturability and cost stand points
• Leading Engineering Change Orders (change to the existing designs or introducing new designs plus V&V and release).
• Support Manufacturing in optimizing the excising designs, design of fixture/tools for the ease of manufacturing and cost optimization
• Support Service Group in optimizing the excising designs for better serviceability
• Design changes and initiative for cost optimization

Required Skills/Experience/Education

• BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
• 2+ years experience as Mechanical Engineer or equivalent
• SolidWorks expertise
• Excellent mechanical design skills
• Machine shop skills – moderate expertise

Desired Skills/Experience

• Familiarity with stages and servo motors
• Optical alignment concepts
• Digital cameras and frame grabbers
• Interest in photography, digital cameras
