The Rosebery Operation is an underground mine located in the township of Rosebery on Tasmania's picturesque West Coast. The mine has operated continuously since 1936 and comprises an underground base metal mine and surface processing operation with the capacity to produce approximately 700,000 tonnes of ore a year.
The township itself is at the northern end of the West Coast Range within reach are some of Tasmania's premier wilderness destinations, including Cradle Mountain. It is located approximately 300 kilometres north-west of Hobart and 125 kilometres south of Burnie on the Murchison Highway. Like most of the other settlements on the west coast of Tasmania, Rosebery was originally established as a mining town. The township has amenities including a District High School, District Hospital, Child Care Centre and Golf Course.

We are now looking for an experienced Production Engineer to join the team. In this role you will co-ordinate all aspects of mine design for production stoping operations and to carry out project work and assist with weekly and monthly scheduling.
Reporting to the Senior Operations Engineer, the key challenge you will face in this role will be to provide drill and blast designs and production schedules that will achieve production targets within agreed timeframes and budgets without comprising safety for underground operations employees. An additional challenge will be to meet forecasted production targets with significant changes to grade and increasing depth of the Rosebery Mine. To face these challenges, you will be tasked with:

• Providing timely, safe, efficient, cost-effective mine designs for production stoping operations, including production drilling designs, raisebore drilling designs and firing plans
• Assisting with and completing production schedules to identify the bottlenecks, major constraints and possible solutions
• Maintaining a working knowledge of all areas of the mine
• Monitoring performance of production stoping operations and identify areas of improvement
• Assisting with underground activities such as longhole drilling, charging and conducting electronic detonator blasts
• Preparing operational risk management plans for shift managers and operators
• Advising planning department with respect to short term planning requirements
• Ensuring allocated projects are managed safely and within budgeted cost constraints.

As an experienced Production Engineer you have a background in underground mining in a base metals environment. You have experience in ventilation engineering, planning of drill and blast activities, and supervising operations crews. It is essential that you are able to confidently articulate your design and scheduling activities to the operations team so that they are able to carry out the work safely and efficiently. Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering are essential. Any experience or exposure to stope design would be desirable as would working knowledge of Mine24D, iRing and EPS software.
