The American Diabetes Association is the largest voluntary health organization in the United States that deals with diabetes and its complications. The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. The money raised through our various fundraising events supports diabetes research and educational programs aimed at generating awareness of diabetes and its seriousness, and educating children and adults on how to better care for this disease.

Position:
Summer/Fall Semester Special Events Intern

Job Description:
The Special Events Internship will offer experience in special events planning, media relations, volunteer coordination and working with volunteer committees through exciting, high profile events.

Duties:
This Intern position will serve as a key liaison for the Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes walks (visit our website www.diabetes.org for event details). Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Support various event support for numerous small to medium size events
* Create invitations and other marketing materials as needed
* Assist in generating new leads for incentive items
* Assist in mass mailings and potential donor calls
* Oversee event registration
* Seek new volunteer bases and coordinate for desired event
* Administer market focused call blitzing
* Aid in participant/volunteer cultivation initiatives

Other general clerical duties required as they apply.


Compensation:

The American Diabetes Association does not offer compensation for internships. Credit hours will be allocated according to University standards.

* Attention to detail
* Excellent organization skills
* Excellent follow through skills
* Microsoft applications Word and Excel are mandatory
* Publisher and Social Media experience helpful
