Job Description

VS People is seeking an experienced AutoCAD Specialist for a large scale West Australian resource construction project.
Reporting to the Manager GIS and contributing to the busy Perth based Projects team, you will be responsible for all aspects of CAD Administration - including completion of engineering drawing sets from sketches, computer models, and verbal information supplied by engineers/designers.

Your key responsibilities will include using drafting packages to prepare drawing sets with complex design features, using mathematical formulas to draw engineering project features and preparing preliminary design, construction and as-built drawings per instructions from designers and engineers.

You will ensure accurate updates of design, construction, as-built and approval data are maintained and communicated to key stakeholders, and generate maps, plans and figures for presentations, reports and briefings.
Further duties will see you assisting in the design, storage, manipulation and analysis of geographical information and will require you to understand the systems involved in merging of cartography, statistical analysis and database technology.

You will contribute to setting up systems and processes that preserve the integrity and design of CAD databases, and through analysis and manipulation of the data, provide information that will assist key stakeholders to make informed business decisions.

Desired Skills & Experience

As the successful candidate, you will be a leader in your field with a demonstrated track record of experience on major projects within the mining resource sector. You’ll have significant experience with industry drafting packages including AutoCAD, MicroStation and 12D. Further experience with LIDAR Survey data and proficiency in MapInfo will be highly regarded.

This role will require you to have a strong understanding of the concepts behind data management in a relational database, and knowledge of spatial coordinate system and the transformation and translation of spatial data.
Demonstrated experience with GPS technology, field data collection techniques and data integration into a GIS system, combined with your excellent mapping and presentation skills will be critical to your success.
