The Company
Reed Resources is a Western Australian mining and exploration company. It has advanced gold, lithium and vanadium projects as well as base metals exploration projects in the Murchison and Goldfields regions of Western Australia.
Why Reed?
Reed has managed to acquire one of the most fertile contiguous packages of land in Western Australia’s prolific Meekatharra – Wydgee Greenstone Belt which is host to a number of multimillion ounce deposits, which include Mt Magnet (8 Moz)and Tuckabiana (1 Moz). It has a strike of 110km, covers approximately 1,000 square kilometres and has produced in excess of 4.5 Moz of gold during the course of its history.
Our multi-pit gold operation is currently in the first stage of a two stage ramp up. Stage one involves mining four open pits for the first two years. Stage two involves bringing up to fourteen open pits and three underground mines into production over the next four years and upgrading the current processing facility at our Meekatharra gold project.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent the position is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the site's environmental management system and is required to provide technical and operational support to the Meekatharra Operations in compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies.
The key responsibilities of the position will include:
- Regular sampling of soil, flora and water
- Identification and monitoring of local flora and fauna
- Input into environmental management plans
- Regular monitoring to ensure environmental protection
- Weekly, monthly and annual reporting as required
- Maintain and manage environmental information systems
You Will Need:
- Bachelor of Science (Environment) or equivalent
- Previous mining site based experience in a similar role
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Ability to work autonomously in remote locations
- Strong judgment, decision making and critical thinking
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail
