Job Description

Newcrest Mining Limited are currently seeking to engage an experienced and professional Mine Production Superintendent to develop and lead a safe, efficient and profitable underground mining operation at our Gosowong Operation, Indonesia. Reporting to the Underground Mining Manager you will ensure and be responsible for the conduct of underground mine production including development and stoping. You will also be accountable for the mine production against the budget costs. As the Mine Production Superintendent you will support Newcrest's Operating Framework and a Target Zero approach to Safety.

Your key responsibilities will include the following:

• Ensure mine planning schedule is followed to produce required physicals for the month and oversee the preparation of weekly and monthly production reports


• Monitor actual production and grade against plan and prepare statistics for weekly and monthly reports as directed by the UG Mining Manager


• Liaise with Technical Services: Planning, Geotechnical, Production, Survey and Geology personnel to ensure that systems are maintained to optimise ore extraction and gold recovery


• Attend Geology, Production and Planning meetings to ensure interactions are optimised to achieve weekly and monthly targets as required


• Liaise with UG foreman to ensure they have all the plans required to carry out their job


• Coach and mentor engineers and other employees to ensure development of team


• As required in the absence of the UG Mining Manager, perform as (acting) UG Mining Manager

To be considered for this position you will possess the relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering and will have significant previous experience in mining in a similar position within an underground gold or hard rock environment. Your proven exposure to drill and blast techniques is an advantage that will ensure that all necessary production targets are met which ultimately will contribute to the operations success.

Ideally you will have previous experience working in geographically challenging conditions in a developing country. Some knowledge of Indonesian culture and the ability to speak Bahasa would be an advantage.

You will have a proactive approach to your work with demonstrated experience at leading and developing high performing teams. As a strong communicator and influencer you will have the ability to work effectively with all levels of the business and will be adept in problem solving skills covering complex technical problems.
