Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Senior Completions Engineer located in Balikpapan, Indonesia.

The position will be based in Balikpapan due to the proximity to the suppliers and the shore base but some travel can be expected.

Indonesia, Balikpapan. Housing, school, medical clinic, recreational facility and office located in a compound. Schooling from Pre-K through Grade 8. Routine medical problems can be treated, but for serious illness, surgery, or elective surgery, expatriates normally return home or travel to Australia or Singapore. Indonesia has a tropical climate, uniformly hot and humid, with monsoon rains from October through April and a dry season from May through September.

Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, coordinate and support the completion, workover and intervention of offshore development well work in a safe, legal, environmentally responsible and effective manner.
  • Manage assigned service/material contracts to provide best value to completion operations.
  • Develop detailed design & completion procedures for all Blk 14 programs including possible subsea and intelligent well completions.
  • Serve as liaison between D&C and Asset Teams / Project Teams to identify reservoir management objective and develop viable alternatives.
  • Provides day to day support to Drilling Engineers during Project Well Planning for completions.
  • Conduct Complete Well On Paper (CWOP) and Risk and Uncertainty Management (RUMS) sessions as appropriate for all completions operations.
  • Conduct look backs and records lessons learned / best practices and incorporates them into future completion designs / operations.
  • Work closely with the Operations Engineers to identify long range equipment needs and to develop quality completions programs and procedures.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience.
  • Proven experience in offshore completion engineering design and completions engineering and operations.
  • Strong leadership skills. Ability to function and effectively drive change in a diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build team consensus and ability to work effectively and collaboratively in multi-discipline; multi-cultural environment. Able to interact effectively with peers; partners; service and contractor representatives.
  • Experience utilizing look backs, lessons learned and risk management to identify areas for improvement and changes required.

    Relocation Options:

    Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.

    International Considerations:

    Expatriate assignments will be considered.
