Senior Mining Engineer

Shenhua Watermark Coal is currently at the EIS Public Exhibition phase of their new and exciting open cut mining project and now requires a Senior Mining Engineer.

The Role:

• Prepare operational and project cost estimates, production schedules, and report on progress, production and costs compared to budget;
• Assessing the natural, technical, financial and safety risks associated with the phases of the development;
• Determine the safety of processes, order of extraction and safety of mine walls, evaluating the risk of slippage and advising on the prevention of slippage and rock falls; and.
• Plan and coordinate the utilisation of labour and equipment consistent with efficiency targets,statutes, safety guidelines and environmental conditions.

This is a key role in the detailed planning and optimisation of the mine for efficient and cost effective extraction and will strongly impact on the life of mine cost structure.

The right person will have the opportunity to progress towards senior operational roles in the mining operation.

Requirements:-

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline;
• NSW Coal Mining Manager Mining Certificate of Competency is desirable;
• A minimum 5-10 years professional mining industry experience;
• Extensive coal mine planning and scheduling experience;
• Mine start-up experience desirable;
• Highly proficient in the use of mine planning, scheduling and modelling
  software;
• High level computer literacy including the Microsoft Office Suite,
  Microsoft Project;
• Very good interpersonal and communication skills including negotiation,
  report writing and presentation;
• Proactive leadership and ability to work either unsupervised or as part of a team; and
• Preparedness and capability to operate in a multi-cultural environment.
