Job Description

Reporting to the Manager - Community Infrastructure Development (CID), the Superintendent - Community Technical Services (CTS) manages the CTS team in all aspects of planning and implementation of road maintenance programs in addition to management of road construction and other civil engineering related projects.

Key elements of the role will include:


  • Direct and lead the CTS team to safely perform daily duties by providing leadership, advice and ongoing development

  • Provide expert advice regarding roads and civil engineering matters

  • Ensure roads and drainage maintenance meet relevant standards

  • Ensure planning, engineering, civil designs and cost estimates meet Newcrest and department requirements

  • Consult with other CID Superintendents to ensure projects are aligned

  • Plan, manage and report on budget and costs

  • Continuously monitor and promote the improvement of existing processes

  • Engage and liaise with Newcrest, community and government stakeholders

The successful candidate will have:


  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in design engineering in a mining or community environment

  • The ability to lead and drive a multi-skilled team in a remote, technically challenging environment

  • Strong skills in MS Office applications

  • Experience with SAP, Hyperion and Autocad beneficial

  • Sound numerical and financial management skills

  • Good planning and organisational skills

  • Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in English and ideally Pidgin
