Applications Engineer

Job Description

• Testing of new and existing extractant technology used in the metals processing industry for the separation of metals.
• Identify and pursue new applications for our commercial extractants, relevant areas of research in solvent extraction, aiding in the design of new molecules or development of new formulations.
• Performing applications work to understand how our products might be best used, where problems lie and where innovation may be expected to occur.
• Evaluate new and existing flow sheets options to determine how they may apply to our new/existing extractants.
• Participate in cross functional teams to evaluate and implement the innovation of new products and projects.
• Provide technical support to customers and sales personnel needed to monitor the performance of our products in particular applications, new product introductions and to help solve solvent extraction associated issues.
• Train personnel on the use of extractants and aid sales in pilot plant operations and commissioning support.

Desired Skills & Experience

• This position requires a B.S in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or related field.
• Candidate must have an understanding of solvent extraction and the aspects of chemistry and engineering.
• Experience in the operation of lab scale/pilot plant equipment and laboratory testing.
• Show a strong understanding of solvent extraction technology, chemistries and applications.
• Knowledge of engineering calculations, mass balances and economics.
• Experience in a laboratory environment, and use of laboratory equipment and operation of equipment associated with small and large scale pilot plant.
• Excellent verbal and writing communications skills. High proficiency with use of computer programs and programming skills.
