Job Description

The Refining East Process Engineering Team Lead has overall responsibility of the process related activities in the area including, direct supervision and mentoring of the Process Engineers.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Serving as the focal point for 24X7 technical assurances in the area
• Coordination of Process Engineering resources in the area for Turn Around, HEMP/PHA analysis and other process related activities
• Point of contact to the Area Production Manager for Process Engineering Requirements
• Process related activities in the area including, direct supervision and mentoring of the Process Engineers
• To stay abreast of refining priorities and provide leadership in the area to insure alignment. Including alignment with the MTA data base, the site Capital Plan, the Business Improvement Plan, CCD revalidations, RBI assessments, KMS and FIM
• Provide leadership with in the area to insure proper preparation for Turnaround activity, HEMP/PHA reviews, approval of MOC's and review of Project Information Forms
• Provide leadership in the area of Proactive Technology Monitoring including, practices used, maintenance, system development/improvement
• Thorough understanding of the Ensure Safe Production (ESP) work process and insure proper focus is given to process variables limits, including any change or establishment of new limits
• Active participation in and provide guidance during unit Turnarounds, Pit-Stops, etc.
• Second level review of environmental calculations and reporting required of the Process Engineers in the area. Second level reviews will also be provided for any other calculations, etc. of a critical nature
• Mentoring of Process Engineers in the area, and have a good understanding of the critical nature of this activity toward insuring the success of the Process Engineers.
• Helping provide a site wide approach to unit optimization, problem solving, and provision of resources
• Serve as a link to other sites, and Best Practices
• Assistance as required on a 24X7 basis in response to unit upsets, outages, unplanned downtime, or other Process Engineering needs and serve as a communication link to the Process Engineering Manager
• Insuring that back-up coverage for Process Engineers in their respective area is provided on a 24X7 basis

Desired Skills & Experience

• Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Chemical Engineering degree preferred
• Minimum eight (8) years of relevant experience, preferably in the petrochemical industry
• Refining experience in relevant units especially hydroprocessing preferred
