Job Description

Responsibilities:

The purpose of Project and Programme Management is to plan, control and execute a project or set of related projects to meet identified business needs and deliver business value, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales and quality.
The role will typically involve the following areas:

Project Management Takes responsibility for the definition, documentation and satisfactory completion of large-scale projects. Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project. Ensures that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and provides regular and accurate reports to stakeholders as appropriate. Ensures that quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedure. Manages the change control procedure and ensures that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets and are signed off. Provides effective leadership to the project team and takes appropriate action where performance deviates from agreed tolerances.

Benefits Management Identifies mechanisms by which benefits can be delivered and measured and plans to activate these mechanisms at the required time. Monitors outcomes against what was predicted in the business case and ensures that operational managers and staff are informed and involved throughout the change programme and fully prepared to exploit the new operational business environment once it is in place. Coordinates personnel from different disciplines and with different viewpoints and leads activities required in the realisation of the benefits of each part of the change programme.

Change Implementation Planning and Management Creates business readiness plan, taking into consideration IT deployment,data migration, capability deployment (training and engagement activities) and any business activities required to integrate new processes or jobs into the ‘business as usual’ environment. Determines the readiness levels of business users with regard to upcoming changes; uncovers readiness gaps and creates and implements action plans to close the gaps prior to going live. Assists the user community in the provision of transition support and change planning and liaises with the project team. Reports progress on business readiness targets,business engagement activity, training design and deployment activities, key operational metrics and return to productivity measures. Defines the series and sequence of activities to bring stakeholders to the required level of commitment, prior to going live.

Desired Skills & Experience

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level, likely in an information technology specialty. Professional Certification preferred.
  • Has in total between 8 to 25 years of work experience, out of which between 5 to 20 years of experience are in IT Project Management.
  • Has achieved proficiency in project management. Has gained experience of achieving results through effective team leadership and through the planning, control and formal review of IT projects, including demonstrable success in managing multiple projects.
  • Broadly skilled in information and communications technology. Has a comprehensive knowledge of relevant development life-cycles, and the environment in which they operate.
  • Has strong planning, communication and presentation skills, is proficient in project quality management, and familiar with programme management.
  • Is familiar with a range of analysis, modelling and design methods; has good current knowledge of IT standards, applications and trends. Has an analytical and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Has sound understanding of the costs of IT (project and “lifetime”) and the ability to cost operational IT services. Skilled at identifying benefits which come in the form of cost savings both within IT and in the business, in relation to the operational cost of the IT service.
  • Has a sound understanding of risk management. Understands the interdependencies of business processes and information systems.
  • A valid visa or authorisation to work in Malaysia is required for this position.
