The Company

The Role

This position will report into the Maintenance Engineering Superintendent and join and small team of technical engineering and supporting technician professionals. The position will operate across the entire plant operations and will see the incumbent manage the maintenance work and smaller projects across the plant. The incumbent will also play a key role in major plant shutdowns where they would heavy input into and manage a larger contractor workforce.

The Maintenance Engineer has responsibility to monitor the performance of and develop improvement strategies for all mechanical equipment in the plant. This is done to ensure optimal plant uptime as well as meeting the production & service needs of the Operations. In addition to the abovementioned duties the position has accountability for reporting and recommendations concerning maintenance and capital expenditure.

The Criteria


  • Ensure a safe working environment and provide leadership on SHE Maintenance related issues

  • Ensure critical machinery and equipment are available to meet production requirements & to optimise plant performance

  • Deliver continuous improvement in the cost effective, efficient and reliable operation of the plant

  • Ensure Shutdown scope of work maximises reliability of operations

  • Optimise plant maintenance costs to deliver both short term budget KPI's and long term profitable and reliable operation

  • Communicate technical information and changes to Maintenance & Operating Technicians

  • Initiation, progression and implementation of projects to improve plant operation

The successful candidate will have completed tertiary qualifications in a mechanical or mechatronic engineering. It would be highly regarded if the incumbent has developed experience in a chemical or heavy industrial manufacturing environment. The incumbent will have the capacity to provide technical expertise and advice to the plant operations as well as delivering mechanical projects for the plant.
