Job Description

BHP Billiton Iron Ore is one of the world's leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company's operations currently involve an integrated system of seven mines, more than 1,600 kilometres of rail and two separate world class port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland.

Position
Reporting to the Reliability Superintendent and interacting with Maintenance Planners, Maintenance Supervisors, Engineers and Production Supervisors, you will be leading the drive to develop superior maintenance programs and plans for the fixed plant assets in the business. You'll be responsible for mechanical reliability analysis of the plant, RCAs, and reviewing current maintenance strategies.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
&#149 Establish and maintain relationships with various reliability personnel to ensure a focused effort on the elimination of failure and the extension of machine life;
&#149 Actively engage and coach maintenance personnel to adopt the Reliability Systems approach when performing all work;
&#149 Improve data integrity by continuously reviewing how data is recorded and influencing appropriate maintenance personnel to accurately record downtime data for use in reliability analysis;
&#149 Develop and maintain reliability focused maintenance documentation for each asset including rebuild and in-service scopes & installation and commissioning documents;
&#149 Provide a specialist resource to the Maintenance function by analyzing failure history, liaising with Operators & Maintenance personnel and making life Cycle Comparisons in order to set priorities.

Skills and Experience
To be considered for the role, you will be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering combined with solid experience with fixed plant in the Mining Industry. With extensive knowledge of maintenance strategy development and problem solving, you'll be a proactive professional capable of being flexible and adaptable. Ideally, you will have experience in a similar role as a Reliability Engineer, but if you have experience working with fixed plant in the Mining Industry as an Mechanical Engineer that will also be considered.
Your technical skills will be complemented by your excellent organisational and communication skills and proven ability to work in a small team, professional environment.
Current full West Australian "C" class motor vehicle license or current equivalent Australian State motor vehicle license is a requirement of this role.

Location
You will be based at our 'Area C' mine site on a fly-in fly-out 8 days on, 6 days off roster. Our Area C mine is located approximately 100 kilometres northwest from the Western Australian town of Newman. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
