Job Description

Function:
  • Mechanical Engineer to primarily support the packaging design and development of Transmission controls. The variety of designs can include packaged electronics and integration of hydraulic system components.

Tasks:
  • Provide design support at factories working closely with supplier quality and process engineers
  • Responsible for working on a multi-functional team to design and develop electronic housings, covers, lead frames and sealing methodology to meet the customer functional, timing and project quoted cost targets.
  • Engineer will closely coordinate with the technical project leader to ensure all internal and customer requirements are met.
  • The engineer is responsible for the typical activities in development, such as: requirements management, concept development, DFMEAs, tolerance analysis, engineering evaluation testing, CAD Design, supplier interface design consideration, and product validation support
  • The engineer will also be responsible to utilize packaging platform strategies which consider reuse and design for manufacturing.
  • Lead mechanical engineering project team responsible for meeting technical design requirements and project deliverable

Desired Skills & Experience

Experience:
  • 6+ years experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Use of CAD tool; PRO-E desired but not required.
  • Experience with creating FMEAs and tolerance analysis
  • Engineering for the automotive market is preferred.
  • Engineering of electronic packaging is preferred, but not a requirement.
  • Thorough knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and how to apply to product designs.
  • Hydraulic design of valves, pumps and manifolds preferred but not required.
