Job Description
Function:- Mechanical Engineer to primarily support the packaging design and development of Transmission controls. The variety of designs can include packaged electronics and integration of hydraulic system components.
Tasks:
- Provide design support at factories working closely with supplier quality and process engineers
- Responsible for working on a multi-functional team to design and develop electronic housings, covers, lead frames and sealing methodology to meet the customer functional, timing and project quoted cost targets.
- Engineer will closely coordinate with the technical project leader to ensure all internal and customer requirements are met.
- The engineer is responsible for the typical activities in development, such as: requirements management, concept development, DFMEAs, tolerance analysis, engineering evaluation testing, CAD Design, supplier interface design consideration, and product validation support
- The engineer will also be responsible to utilize packaging platform strategies which consider reuse and design for manufacturing.
- Lead mechanical engineering project team responsible for meeting technical design requirements and project deliverable
Desired Skills & Experience
Experience:- 6+ years experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Use of CAD tool; PRO-E desired but not required.
- Experience with creating FMEAs and tolerance analysis
- Engineering for the automotive market is preferred.
- Engineering of electronic packaging is preferred, but not a requirement.
- Thorough knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and how to apply to product designs.
- Hydraulic design of valves, pumps and manifolds preferred but not required.
