Job Description

Primary Focus


Reporting to the Contracts Supervisor of Athabasca Projects, the Senior Contracts Administrator (Coordinator) is accountable for the administration of construction service contracts in compliance with Enbridge policies, procedures and protocols. This is a contract position located in Edmonton, Alberta.

Definition of Position:
  • This position manages the construction contract, whereas the Construction group manages the contractor.
  • Responsibilities
  • Participates in cross functional, interdepartmental field teams leading the administration of construction contracts.
  • Manages all contract related interface with Contractors.
  • Manages all contract related activities, documentation, changes, contractual correspondence, interface, meetings, claims, and close out.
  • Responds to all documentation in a timely manner.
  • Documents activities as necessary.
  • Analyses, conducts complex investigations, negotiates, documents, and processes all contract changes.
  • Ensures compliance of the review and authorization process for changes.
  • Maintains change logs.
  • Reports progress as required.
  • Maintains up to date files both electronic and paper. Archives files appropriately.
  • Participates in meetings as required, leads contractual related meetings.
  • Leads site contractual disputes and involves others as required.
  • Interprets the contract for interdepartmental members of the field team including other Procurement members, Project Controls, Construction and Engineering.
  • Educates and mentors junior contract administrators as applicable, and cross functional team members.
  • Interprets Procurement Protocol and policy and procedures manuals.
  • Provides input to cross functional teams leading to the formation of new construction contracts.
  • Acts as liaison between contracts personnel and the project units when necessary.
  • Keeps current on emerging market trends and conditions relating to industry.
  • Participates in the continuous improvement of the enterprise’s contract management and administration systems and processes.

Desired Skills & Experience

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8-12 years of supply chain/procurement/contract experience preferably field administration within the oil and gas construction industry.
  • Preference given to those that hold applicable Post-Secondary education, e.g., Business degree or diploma with specific education in the areas of Commerce, Business/Contract law, Accounting, Business Planning and Operations, Construction Administration certificate, etc.
  • Preferably, completion of SCMP accreditation.
  • Sound knowledge of contract law including lien legislation, labour laws, and collective agreements.
  • Strong analytical skills to understand changes and issues required to make correct commercial decisions.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience directly associated with the development and maintenance of construction, maintenance or service contracts, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Organizational skills are key to this demanding position.
  • Efficient time management skills.
  • Aptitude and mature communications skills related to developing and maintaining effective working relationships as a senior level professional, e.g., project managers, procurement managers, attorneys, internal business partners, and contractors.
