Job Description

Our Technical Operations Projects team identifies and executes small to mid-size projects at our Jackfish Thermal Heavy Oil facility. We are looking for an Operations Project Engineer to complement our Projects team. Reporting to the leader Technical Operations Projects, the opportunity manager will be supporting sustaining capital projects and is accountable for developing and managing surface facility improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities:
  • Support operations in achieving EH&S, plant availability and budget targets
  • Help provide stewardship of sustaining capital budget through managing projects
  • Participate in operations capital budget planning and reporting
  • Identify, develop and assess opportunities to optimize surface facility capacity and throughput
  • Accountable for front-end scoping/definition for improvement opportunities
  • Enable informed decisions on opportunity selection through economic evaluation and execution strategy
  • Monitor projects key performance indicators(KPIs) to ensure successful implementation
  • Participate in business process improvement initiatives

As a strong communicator you will be able to showcase your strong project management skills and lead a multi-disciplinary team. Having a sound knowledge of regulatory and engineering codes, standards and practices coupled with your ability to learn Devon’s processes and standards will enable you to deliver on all aspects of the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer with more than 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of stage gate process
  • Thermal Heavy oil experience is an asset
  • Understanding of construction and maintenance activities
  • Excellent planning and organization skills
  • Working knowledge of Management of Change processes
  • Strong people management and conflict resolution skills
