Job Description

This position will be responsible for enhancing corporate expertise and internal competencies.
Location will be Seoul/Ulsan, Korea.
The candidates will use simulation capabilities in the following areas:

  • Provide total solution for design, operation, and troubleshooting of refining/ petrochemical processes.
  • Make a PFD (process flow diagram) for heat and material balance in a new process design.
  • Optimize operating conditions of process equipment, especially for column and heat exchange networks.
  • Troubleshoot distillation columns in abnormal conditions. Find the trouble source and provide solutions through simulation.
  • Provide training and advice to internal simulation engineers.
  • Build a global network for acquiring global talent related to the field.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • More than 15 years of experience in refining or petrochemical process simulation.
    Candidates should have extensive knowledge on process, process equipment, and simulation.
  • Candidate should have knowledge and experiences in design, operation, and troubleshooting of refining/petrochemical process equipment.
  • Candidate should have deep knowledge of distillation column and heat exchangers. Specific knowledge on heat exchanger network systems in preferred.
  • Should be able to use commercial simulators - Aspen Hysys, Aspen Plus and
    Pro-II.
    Note: The basic simulator at SK is Aspen engineering software, including Hysys, Exchanger design and rating (EDR), Aspen Plus. Pro-II & HTRI is also available but not widely used in SK. The ideal candidate will be able to use both simulators - Hysys and Pro-II.
  • The ideal candidate should be able to use dynamic simulation.
  • Candidate should have the ability to combine process and simulator knowledge to design, troubleshoot, and improve new/current processes.
  • Effective communication skills are required to communicate any process to engineers in Korea or other countries.
  • Excellent employee and project management skills are required.
  • Must have the capability and desire to grow with the company as it expands through global projects.
Education / Language:
  • BS in chemical engineering is required. MS or PhD in thermodynamics or refining/petrochemical process analysis is preferred.
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
