*** Position will be based in Santiago, Chile for initial 12-18 months of hire. Thereafter, position will be transferred & based full-time in El Abra for two (2+) plus years.***

The Contracts Manager will manage capital project contracts from conception to completion. This person will also be responsible for post contract administration/management related to obligations & duties of both parties.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree (S1) in Business Administration, Law, Engineering, Construction Management or related field. Master's degree preferred.

· Ten (10) years of related work experience. Specifically Field Contract Administration and Field Contract Management on large capital construction projects.

· Experience with pricing of engineering/construction industry contracting.

· Experience in contract law/drafting, administration/negotiation of change orders, effective correspondence, planning & scheduling.

· Strong understanding of contract administration, quantity, surveying, home office and site procedures and documents relating to a large scale, multi-discipline capital project.

· Ability to take a leadership role involving several concurrent projects

· Strong communication and documentation skills.

· Bilingual Spanish / English.

Additional responsibilities:

1. Analysis of contracts including conditions, scope, and Works information. Identify requirements & deliverables, highlighting areas of risk (ambiguities, conflicts, deviations from the scope of work, etc.). Makes recommendations to the Project Managers and Corporate Contracts on risk mitigation. Monitor, recommend and support remedial actions.

2. Monitor compliance with contract terms & conditions. Ensure that customer-related actions/inactions that affect contracts are identified and make recommendations for resolution.

3. Manage project team members, ensuring technical competence and consistency of administration across several contract packages.

4. Develop & manage procedures to identify contract claims as they develop, managing timely resolution of change provisions. Obtain claims and legal expertise as needed.

5. Facilitate interaction with Construction, Engineering, Project Controls, Procurement, Legal, Project Management and Risk Management to support contract administration.

6. Provide Project Manager and Corporate Contracts with review & analysis of contract commitment data/payments position. Assist Project Controls with the development & maintenance of cost management.

7. Ensure adherence to contract insurance provisions, ensuring implementation of all requirements.

8. Ensure the requirements of good corporate governance are understood by Project Management team and take early action to correct any deviation from good governance practices.

9. Ensure technical competence & consistency across all projects; providing reports, information and guidance to Project Management team.

•Position is likely to involve extensive travel or temporary relocation to project construction sites.
