SENIOR ENGINEER MINE PLANNING

Permanent position – Site Based

PURPOSE

• This position is a technical role that ensures accuracy of plans to enable delivery against the Short Range Forecast for Safety, Volume and Cost. Collaborates with Contractor to delivers production designs, plans and schedules that define the tasks and resources required to execute the Short Range Forecast and budget. Supports optimising the process to maximise yield, recovery and throughput within specifications outlined by the plan. Guides teams by applying specialist knowledge and experience. Uses standard planning specifications, tools, and practices. Adopts work practices that comply with the site health and safety management system to maintain a safe work environment. Assists with the development of professionals. 

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Demonstrate and instil an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
• Demonstrate commitment to the BHP Billiton Values and IndoMet Coal Project’s key behaviours and Code of Business Conduct
• Comply with relevant policies, Group Level Documents (GLDs) and site health and safety management system
• Work with peers from contractors, operation and asset functions to resolve resourcing and scheduling issues in order to deliver optimal overall production
• Ensure accurate and updated planning assumptions are incorporated into periodic reporting documents, short range forecasts and 2yr budgets (including actual and apparent mine recovery)
• Direction of Engineers Planning and Production support
• Supervision of Mining Contractor to adhere to weekly and 13 week mine plan, through both active daily engagement and scheduled systematic evaluations
• Approval of Mining Contractor mine plans.
• Supervision of Mining Contractor by adhere to planned mine design parameters.
• Supervision of Survey Contractor to undertake, analyse and report weekly and monthly volume and excavation reconciliations.
• Responsible for reviewing and approving the operation pans for single pass / multi-pass coal mining requirements.
• Supervision of Contractor in adhering to ARD (Acid Rock Drainage) and water management strategies.
• Participate in managing and tracking coal inventory at mine stockpiles, MT port and IBT stockpiles (tonnes and quality).
• Support and provide advice to improve the operation and asset functions’ process execution and overall performance
• Analyse variances, trends, risk and opportunities, key business drivers and sensitivities and highlight significant operational performance issues to management

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / ABILITIES :

• Tertiary qualification in mining engineering or equivalent industry experience
• Desired experience of 5 years in a relevant role
• Desired experience at a mine site
• Desired experience with mine planning software and tools
• Experience with mine planning and scheduling software. Exposure to Vulcan and XPAC an advantage
• Pengawas Operasional Pratama (POP) qualification holder from the Indonesia’s Dept of Mines & energy
• Proficient in English language
