Job Description

Eaton Corporation, located in Costa Mesa, CA has an opening for a Site Engineering Manager. This senior engineering leadership position will have site-level responsibility to plan, coordinate, and direct technology development, design and qualification of new products and commercialized solutions to support customers’ technical requirements, and development of product line extensions for fuel and hydraulic system applications. The incumbent will operate as a member of the Costa Mesa Plant’s Leadership Team.

The essential functions of this position are as follows:

• Drives predictive performance on Costa Mesa Plant product and technology development activities utilizing EBS tools and processes
• Leads execution of robust Next-Generation PROLaunch design processes and continuous improvement/design efficiency initiatives (i.e. DFSS/DFR) across the Costa Mesa Plant engineering and technology function
• Leads development and execution of strategic planning initiatives, allocation of engineering resources, and technology roadmaps for Costa Mesa Plant engineering
• Drives internal/external innovation activities across Costa Mesa Plant engineering and technology function, including IP management
• Develops distributed design organizational capability for Costa Mesa Plant engineering and technology function at the EIEC in Pune, India and in Shanghai, China
• Develops close professional relationships with Costa Mesa Plant customers for developing new product requirements, major modifications of existing products, prototype qualification test requirements, and resolve product performance deficiencies
• Provides status on technical accomplishments/ issues for Costa Mesa Plant product and technology development programs to the FED engineering leadership team (FEDELT)
• Maintains close liaison with the Costa Mesa Plant operations to ensure high-quality product integrity and year-over-year manufacturing cost reductions
• Leads profit planning efforts for Costa Mesa Plant engineering and manage multiple activity center budgets throughout the follow-on period of performance and delivers profit plan forecast and other financial expectations

Position Criteria:
• Demonstrated leadership skills, experience with design processes, portfolio and program management skills, knowledge of customer strategies, successful new product introduction experience, creative/innovative thinking.
• Proven track record of driving change and ability to develop/execute technology development plans.
• Must possess strong functional skills in Engineering and have demonstrated ability to build organizational capability, think strategically, and drive business results.

Desired Skills & Experience

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution
- 10 years of engineering experience in an Aerospace new product development environment
- 3 years of experience as a manager of people
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ''Green Card Holder''), Political Asylee, or Refugee

Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Engineering
- MBA
- Experience designing / developing cockpit controls (panels, lighting, switches, buttons, etc.)
- Experience with aircraft electrical system function, control systems, and electro-optical/mechanical products
- Experience engaging with external research/IRAD funding organizations
- Experience developing both managers and individual contributors
