Health and Safety Manager
We have an opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager to lead the Health and Safety team based in our Pt.Henry Smelter, Geelong..
The Health & Safety Manager is accountable for the provision of a comprehensive range of occupational health & safety and security skills to the plant management group and to ensure Alcoa’s value of a safer workplace, free of injury, can be achieved with a systematic planned approach to incident prevention, loss and damage control, and employee welfare.
The prime responsibilities of the position are to;
• Provide specialist technical and professional safety advice;
• Plan and co-ordinate health & safety plus security resources and initiatives as agreed in support of the plant plan and strategy;
• Contribute to the establishment of health & safety policy and procedures;
• Contribute to the Area Business Unit's health & safety management and planning by providing advice, expertise and coaching to Area Managers, Area supervisors and health & safety consultants as required;
• Review and analysis of reports and information and recommend strategies to ensure improvement in performance;
• And providing continuous assessment of health & safety performance by identifying and appraising incidents and by being part of an investigative team assigned to all lost time injuries and serious incidents.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to meet the varied demands of a large and diverse workforce and significant internal and external stakeholder groups.
