Vale’s Integra Coal Operation includes an open cut and underground mine. They are modern operations, well reputed as safe, reliable suppliers of coking and thermal coal to the export market and has ample coal reserves underpinning the mine’ s future. The mines are located 15 minutes from Singleton and 80 minutes from the city of Newcastle.

Reporting through to the Technical Services Superintendent, the role of the Senior Mine Surveyor is to provide survey control for the Open Cut mine site.
Some of the key responsibilities will include:
  • To develop, nurture, facilitate and maintain an Open Cut Surveyor with appropriate and timely skill sets with reproducible documented procedures to achieve the cultural transformation of the Open Cut Integrated Mine Planning processes
  • Ensure planning activities comply with environmental constraints and limits and advise when they are about to or have occurred.
  • To provide 3-Dimensional spacial control to manage the extents, compliance and volumetric reporting of the greater open cut Mine integrated Measure and report the variation and rehandle in the integrated Open Cut Mine plans.
  • To assist in the development of the resource and reserve delineation as required by various Geology functions.
  • To maintain measurement systems as applicable to the Geotechnical Stability Inspection and Prediction regimes for the Integra Open Cut mine
  • Provide the Starting points for the OC LTP & annual plan and the spacial control for its implementation
  • Provide advice to the Tech Services superintendent, Tech Services Manager and Operations Manager in the provision of survey control to the Open Cut
To be successful in this role it is envisaged that you will have formal qualifications in Surveying and to be a BOSSI candidate as a minimum. A Statutory ticket will be desirable. You will have experience with Vulcan Software, strong planning skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Coupled with this you will have a strong commitment to safety, quality and teamwork
