A leading Oilfield Services company is actively seeking experienced Drilling Automation Engineers to join their Queensland based operations. This role is a newly created role to assist in the development, deployment and operation of SCADA controlled drilling systems and other automation technology.

This is a technically challenging role which combines IT; Engineering and Automation skills within the drilling industry.

You will have:

• Tertiary qualification in technical engineering discipline (Petroleum; Mechanical etc)
• 10 + years experience in a well construction role
• Strong directional drilling experience
• Strong knowledge of drilling optimisation methods
• Strong IT skills (Network and Software configuration would be advantageous but not necessary)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to develop relationships and mentor juniors

Your responsibilities will include:

• Define limits for the automated equipment to align with local conditions and drilling programme requirements
• Supervision of drilling as performed by systems
• Work closely with providers and contractors to ensure successful roll-out and delivery of automated projects
• Training and development of new engineers
• Management of records & reporting
• Continuous analysis of systems to ensure optimum performance of drilling equipment

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Drilling Automation Engineer to lead the development and implementation of new systems with the latest technology globally. You will have the opportunity to travel extensively throughout training and will work on international projects as well.
Salary is negotiable depending on relevant experience.
