Barrick is headquartered in Toronto, Canada and has 27 mining operations with many advanced exploration projects located across 5 continents and a large number of tenements located on some of the most prolific and prospective mineral trends. Ten of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia.
Barrick (Darlot) is located 680kms north east of Perth and has been one of Australia’s consistent gold producers for the last 21 years. With ongoing development of our underground mining operation and a significant exploration program, the operation has a mine life of 6 years. Ore is treated by conventional carbon-in-leach at the on-site mill.
Position Objective
We are seeking a Process Services technician to join the Darlot Processing team. This role shall assist in continuous operation of the Processing Plant by monitoring water systems, tailings dams’ management and assisting processing maintenance with crane operations and scaffolding duties. The successful candidate will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be required to perform the following duties:
· Working as a directed to minimise equipment down-time and maximise productivity
· Conduct inspections are carried out on all equipment prior to use
· Ensuring all tools and equipment are serviceable and safe
· Ensure effective communication of work and issues/conditions status takes place with delegate prior to departure from site
· Assessing potential hazards
· Maintaining a high level of housekeeping
· Assisting tradespersons or others as required with mechanical repairs, services and modifications
· Communicate at all levels to ensure tasks and targets are understood.
· Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant policies and procedures.
To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:
· Previous experience as a technician in a minerals processing plant, including knowledge of a tailings storage facilities, raw and RO water circuits
· Mobile Crane operational experience
· Scaffolding within confined areas exposure
· Demonstrated application of safe working procedures
· Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
· Strong customer service focus.
· Current “HR” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence essential, forklift license desirable
· Mobile crane and dogman license essential
· Scaffolding license
· Able to work as part of a team and foster team building
· St Johns Senior First Aid certificate desirable
This position is fly in, fly out from Perth on an 8/6 rotation from Perth. On-site accommodation is provided and recreational facilities include Foxtel, a swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and a gymnasium. Telstra mobile and wireless broadband access is available.
