Headquartered in Toronto, Canada – Barrick has a portfolio of 27 mining operations, many advanced explorations projects located across five continents and a large land position on the most prolific and prospective mineral trends. 11 of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia.
Barrick operates the wholly owned Darlot Gold Mine located in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia, approximately 35kms west of Leinster. The Darlot Gold Mine produces 120,000 oz of gold from 840,000 tonnes of ore each year.
We seek an experienced, proactive and self-motivated Senior Underground Mining Engineer to join the Darlot UG Mining team. Reporting to the Underground Manager this position will utilise all of your skills as an engineer and leader.
Your Responsibilities
  • Development of short and long term production plans to achieve targets;
  • Cost monitoring and continuous improvement project evaluation;
  • Input in the budget and life-of-mine processes;
  • A range of project work including design of underground infrastructure requirements;
  • Providing general technical support to the underground operations;
  • Promoting site safety policies and procedures;
  • Underground project works and studies as required and
  • Active involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentoring and training of Engineers, Vacation Students and Trainees
You will Possess:
  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or the equivalent
  • WA First Class Mine Managers Ticket an advantage or the necessary experience and desire to obtain it;
  • Computer literacy of mine planning packages (Vulcan) and MS Office;
  • Proven track record in various stope mining methods;
  • Possess good communication skills as well as a high level of personal motivation and commitment and
  • Demonstrated experience as a courageous leader particularly in the area of safety.
