Senior Plant Metallurgist Job Number: 130699 Description Newmont Mining Corporation is one of the world’s largest gold producers with significant assets on five continents including operations in Western Australia, the Northern Territory and New Zealand. Newmont's Jundee Operation in the eastern goldfields of Western Australia is located 800km north east of Perth and 50kms from Wiluna, with a fly in fly out workforce of 680 Newmont employees and contractors. Originally a series of open pits, Jundee is now a medium size intensive underground gold mine with a number of very thin, often visible high grade ore veins. The Role Reporting to the Processing Manager, the Senior Plant Metallurgist is responsible for provision of metallurgical supervision, advice and support to the process plant personnel in day to day operations. The Senior Plant Metallurgist also provides technical support and problem solving capabilities specific to the Jundee operations. Key responsibilities include: People management / team supervision; Technical advice and support, including management of metallurgical accounting; Project management and process improvement; Budget preparation / cost management and control; Compliance and quality control; Reporting and administration. Qualifications The Person Tertiary qualification – degree qualified preferably in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or Mineral Processing; Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Metallurgist in the mining industry; 3 years’ experience in gold / milling operations (underground an advantage); Demonstrated supervisory / management experience; Advanced PC skills and computer literacy; Knowledge and exposure to SAP or similar ERP; Understanding of financial and administrative processes.
