Mine Planning Engineer (Central Africa)

- To manage the on-site mine planning function to produce quality and realistic plans up to year horizon and to liaise with the long-term planning function, to ensure integration of plans at all levels
- Focus on planning for up to 5 yeas conducted onsite
- Long term planning conducted offsite
- Ensure communication, integration and linkage between the on-mine planning and the long-term planning work done offsite
Responsibilities
- Formalise mine planning processes in line with protocols
- Coordinate development of mine planning protocols
- Coordinate on mine planning cycle and drive its development
- Liaise with mining and engineering readiness planning
- Define planning sequences and min readiness scheduling
- Define planning resources and responsibilities
- Implement best practice technologies for planning (surpac) ensure training and development of planning competency
- Liaise with metallurgy to define inter dependencies between mien plan and plant performance
- Look for optimisation opportunities of plans, factors and processes
- Liaise with long term planning, regional exploration and evaluation
- Conduct techno economic trade off studies
- Implement 5 year planning horizon
- Manage 1- 2 year planning processes
- Implement 3-6 month rolling plan
- Manage short term planning processes
- Implement stockpiling strategy, incorporate in mien plans and conduct regular reviews
- Optimise grade profiles through cut-off grade policy
- Ensure integration of planning levels
Requirements
- BSc in mine engineering
- GDE or post grad qualification desired
- Mine surveying qualifications desirable
- Mine managers certificate desirable
- Mine planning software knowledge: surpac, whittle, gemcom
- Mine scheduling, open-pit design , mine planning economics
- Cut-off grade application
- Management skills
- Reporting to the Manager MRM
